We are lent our children for such a short time. I say to heck with what we “should do” and do what we must. We must spend time with our children, we must teach them right from wrong. How do we do that? By spending time with them and living what we teach. As I have recently discovered there is plenty of time for house cleaning when they are gone. I talked to quiet a few people who said they wished they had spent more time playing with their kids and less time trying to clean their houses. So I decided to spend time snuggling and reading and playing with my kids. A counselor we saw many years ago put it pretty plainly, if you are having problems getting the dishes done, use paper plates. Navy Girl and Army Girl’s great-grandma called the toys and clothes laying about “clean dirt” as long as the garbage is picked up and thrown away don’t worry about the rest. There is plenty of time to clean later. So I took it to heart and it has proven very true. I have time now to clean and dust. I miss being to busy to do them.
Navy beat Army today at football. Luckily neither of the girls attended the academies so they are not huge rivals when it comes to “the game”. I don’t know if there are any big rivalries with Air Force. I am sure we will find out.
We are coming up on the time when families will be getting together. Please remember all of our dear military people who will be unable to spend time with theirs.
