Merry Christmas everyone! I have been thinking about holidays a lot the last few days. There are so many expectations at this time of the year, and people always end up disappointed. There are so many festive activities and so much anticipation of things to come that inevitably things will go awry. The best laid plans, God laughs when people make plans, and other such sayings sum up my thoughts here.

Army Girl, the boy and Baby-O are starting to make their own traditions while carrying on with the old ones. Mr. and Mrs. Air Force Girl are also starting their own. That is the way it should be. As we get older we are pulled in ever more directions, trying to please everyone. The thing to remember is that you have to be true to yourself first, your immediate family second and everyone else (that includes grandparents) a very distant third.

This is the time of year when many tongues feel like they have been bitten through, lots of words are left unsaid, or said, and feelings are easily hurt. My advice is to let it go, those Christmas parties on Christmas Eve that you see on TV don’t actually happen. The perfectly trimmed tree is ugly – no tree is complete without your own personal version of style from kids’ homemade ornaments to Spiderman to the characters from Jeff Dunham.  Everyone getting along every minute of the holiday season is a commercial trying to sell you stuff you don’t want or need.

Cut yourself some slack, have some cookies there will be plenty of time to diet, be crabby, see the people you want to see, miss the people you can’t see and just let yourself have fun. Concentrate on the things you do have. There are so many people who don’t, can’t, won’t, be able to enjoy the life you have. Christmas is one day just like a wedding is one day; it is the rest of the time that counts.

So have a merry, merry and a happy, happy. Don’t forget the pizza and beer for Santa and my love to all of you now and always!

Okay, okay, okay! I know it has been way too long since I last posted anything. I have been very busy and lots of other excuses. Do you know how many great books there are out there to read? I am currently reading 4 of them. Plus working and hanging out with hubby and of course seeing the amazing Baby-O as often (and not nearly enough) as possible.

I know I promise this a lot that I will get better about posting, and this time and for the foreseeable future we will. Both Navy Girl and Army Girl will be deploying somewhere for the next two years. We have been incredibly spoiled with no one being deployed for the last nearly two years.  *sigh* I like being spoiled. I like being able to pick up the phone and call my girls and knowing eventually they will call me back. But that is the life they chose and that I wholly support.

My company has started a wellness program. I am trying to get more exercise at work. So for my 15 minute break and my lunch I try to make 3 laps of the plant. It comes out to about 1200 steps per walk. It isn’t great but it is better than nothing. I think the startup of the wellness program has caused more stress than it has relieved. It will be an interesting year!

May everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year if I don’t get on here again before then. I know, I know I said more often. . .
