Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥  I hope it is everything you want it to be.  Personally I would rather celebrate Ground Hogs Day, if you are going to celebrate a made up holiday that is as good a holiday as any.  Hubby and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day; I just don’t see the need.

I am watching CBS News Sunday Morning and they are talking about love.  There has been a study about love and that long term love gives you the same high as new love.  I like that idea.  I know I love Hubby more today than I did when we got married.  I know that in a year I will love him more than I did today.

I looked up the date and Hubby and I will have been together 20 years on the 25th.  We met the week after the Daytona 500 in 1990.  It has not always been roses and chocolates; sometimes it has been thistles and ashes.  But we have worked at it.  Love is hard work.  That CBS segment said that one of the best indicators of long term success in a relationship is a simple formula.  Being a math geek I love formulas.  The formula is 5 to 1.  That simple:  5 happy compliments, 5 loving touches, 5 good things for every 1 negative comment, 1 negative anything.   It’s that simple and sometimes oh so hard a formula.

Hubby and I made a promise to each other when we got married.  We would be nice to each other, in public and in private.  And 99% of the time we are.  No one can be nice all the time, it just isn’t natural.  But if you make a concerted effort, you can do it most of the time.  Try it.

Happy thoughts for a happy day!
